GRAB & TEAR

STYLE:
HARD (Go)
Origin:
Originally thought to have brought back from southern China by Higaonna Kanryo Sensei and further developed by Chojun Miyagi Sensei

Description:
Saifa Kata is characterized by swift, purposeful motion in combination with powerful attacking techniques. Despite its short duration Saifa Kata contains a vast variety of applications and techniques. Many of the techniques can be applied as joint attacks, locks, breaks, and throws or as other close quarter combat techniques.

Footwork in Saifa Kata introduces the Karateka to body shifting or evasion techniques.
Techniques in Saifa Kata are executed with tension focused at the point of attack in order to maximize impact and damage. This Makes Saifa an advanced (high grade) kata to execute effectively. Likewise many of the hidden techniques of Saifa Kata are only discovered as the Karateka moves through the higher grades.

Saifa includes both back fist and hammer fist strikes.

Broseley Goju Kan starts teaching Kata at 6th kyu.
